Practically worthless July 24, 2010 Maxtone Witherball When my current subscription--a gift--runs out, I will not be renewing.
Maybe once a year Time publishes an article worth reading more than a paragraph of, let alone all the way through. And Joel Stein, its "humor" columnist, is an unabashed racist and all-around wantwit.
Newsweek, despite its recent financial trouble, remains a far better written, far better organized, and far more informative and interesting magazine.
Time is Kind of a Fun Magazine July 9, 2010 T1818 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Time's headlines are great. Take this one 'Germany's Gift to Obama: Taking in Two Guantánamo Inmates' The message to the reader is that Guantanamo is open sore for Obama that just will not go away.
Take this one 'Battlefield General: Is Bobby Jindal Making Sense?' Time does't know but Bobby Jindal who may or may not make sense is kept in the public eye. Why does Time want to keep in the public eye some one who may or may not make sense. Time only knows. But then again the next headline is 'The Republicans Are Still Looking for a Leader'. Reader - 'Heh this Bobby Jindal may make sense as a Republican reader!'
This is a story that doesn't make any sense. 'U.S. Missiles Deployed Near China Send a Message' This story is about non nuclear cruise missile carrying submarines basically headed for Diego Garcia (China's backyard apparently ). One thing is certain unless Liz Cheney or Sarah Palin become President the US will not attack China with non nuclear cruise missiles.
One could go on and on. Anyway Time is a fun magazine much better than 'The Onion' which just isn't funny at all anymore.
Time - epitome of the "old media" July 5, 2010 David M. Norris (Houston, texas) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Time is a perfect illustration of the mainstream media and why it has been reduced to propoganda. Its stories are meant to illustrate political points that the left wants and are carefully spun. to show you a typical excample, they had a whole series of stories about AZ1070 saying it illustrates the "nativists" fear of immigration. The call it an "anti immigration" bill. This is careful spinning. Nothing in the law is "anti immigrant". It is anti-illegal immigrant. This is a huge difference as every poll on the subject shows. The public approves of immigration 70 to 30 % in every poll. But, use the word illegal immigration and that support drops to 30%. It is no wonder that Time uses anti-immigrant in its storyline.
But, why stop there? Obama does things regularly that Bush was railed against. Time is the definition of the double standard. It needs to go out of business.
I like it... June 29, 2010 A. Keinan It's TIME magazine, you like it or you don't. it's fairly left leaning, but still entertaining for a weekly...
Great gift for a retired Dad June 20, 2010 James Cannon (Stockton, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sometimes it is hard to find a gift for someone that seems to have everything. My Dad received his first copy right on time. He enjoys reading a lot and is interested in world events. He also does a bit of traveling and a magazine can be thrown in his bags if needed. He also spends time waiting and has something to keep himself occupied. As a bonus, this gift is recyclable. A magazine gift is the gift that keeps on giving.
